Help on a basic J2ME GPS prototype

I can't believe the BuddyLocator has not taken off. It is awesome.
I want to build a simple prototype which will simply transmit the location of the Mobile phone (with my GPD J2me app running on it) to transmit it's GPS location to a Tomcat server app.
I am a newbie in GPS. Can anyone point me to sample codes, tutorial on this simple app ?

Re: Help on a basic J2ME GPS prototype

Thank you! smile

Maybe the article at http://developers.sun.com/mobility/apis … /location/ will give you an idea about how to get the phone's current location.

In brief, 'all' you have to to do is to get a an instance of the location provider and register a location listener. And in your location listener you can store the last location. This location can then be sent to the server from another thread.

And to transmit the location data you could just use a GET or POST request as described at http://developers.sun.com/mobility/midp … s/network/ .

And BTW: Sorry for the late response! It was hard to spot your post because of all the spam..
